Dr Mary Shawa is the Honorary President of Chanasa. Dr Mary Shawa has recently reitred from her post as Chief Director in the Ministry of Transport and Public Works. Having worked as a Secretary for Nutrition, HIV and AIDS; and Secretary for Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare. She is the Chair for Finance and Administration for the Regional University Forum for Research and Development (RUFORUM) in agriculture and she also chairs a numbers of organisations' trustees and boards.
Gloria Makunje is the Chairperson of Chanasa with responsibility for supervising the coordinator, Elizabeth. Gloria is a vibrant business lady with a big heart for charity. She is the Director of the Eyenet Business Centre in Blantyre. She is also the Executive Director of the Convoy of Hope Foundation ministry and a lay leader in the Anglican Church in Blantyre. She is Treasurer for the National Cancer Association of Malawi and the Fundraising Chairperson for Women in the Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi.
Judith Penchirwa is the Vice Chairperson of Chanasa. Judith has a Masters in Strategic Planning and a Diploma in Education together with 18 years of micro and large scale enterprise development. She has a teaching background and now runs two private schools, is the Vice Chair of the Private Schools’ Association and is a member of Soroptimists International in Blantyre.
Sabina Kulasinghe is Treasurer of Chanasa. Sabina is an accountant by profession and also studied business management and human resources. She is mother to a son of 18 years, a daughter of 15 years and another daughter of 11 years. Sabina works part time with an NGO organization call Computers For Malawian schools, which donates and educates students in the government schools in IT Education.
Taleetha Bowler is a trustee of Chanasa liasing with the Lotus Project. Taletha is an organised, ambitious and highly creative individual who loves challenges. She has 6 years of experience of working in management with a number of companies such as G4S, Old Mutual, Puma Energy and FMB which has shaped her ability to adapt quickly, work effectively and think creatively both as part of a team on on her own.
Taleetha is married with a young family.
Susan Flynn is the founder of Chanasa in Malawi (established in 2014). She spent 20 years in Social Services, followed by 17 years in the ministry of the United Reformed Church. She has been coming to Malawi since 2005 through a Synod Global Partnership and has organized visits in both directions. Her focus is on supporting the work of women in the Churches of Christ in Malawi. Her work for Chanasa as an independent charity has grown out of this involvement. Chanasa began in autumn 2012, and was registered as a charity in April 2014. Susan now makes twice yearly visits for 3 weeks at a time to help develop Chanasa.
